Halloween is the Greatest Time of the Year

...after Christmas, that is.

The reason why I love Halloween so much is because you get to use this holiday as a creative outlet to come up with a kick ass costume! Most people, however, would rather blow a shit ton of money on a costume that really doesn't do much other than push up their non-existing tots.

Once I got to college, I decided to only put pieces together for a costume rather than buy a costume that came together. Here are the costumes that I came up with:

Freshman Year

Christmas Tree

I bought this Christmas tree headband back in high school and decided to put it to use. I looked through my closet (and then my roommate's) to find other green pieces. This one wasn't my best...probably because I came up with it an hour before going out. I'm glad I ran into a rando Santa that night though!

Snooki

Before Jersey Shore was lame and Snooki lost a bunch of weight, I decided to go as the infamous Snooki. Granted, it was freezing out that night in Athens so my Northface covered up my "too tight of a dress" that Snooki would have rocked. I threw on some big ass hoop earrings, put up the notorious "poof" in my hair, and called it a day...or night? Again, I was glad to have ran into some rando dressed as a guido with his wonderful "T-Shirt Time" tank.

Sophomore Year

Dora the Explorer

Asian Dora? Sure, why the hell not! This costume, not like the others, took a lot of my time. I went on eBay and Amazon to find every single piece to this costume. Thankfully, it turned out awesome. I bought the classic white Keds (knock-offs), yellow kiddy socks, orange shorts (which I actually just borrowed from a friend), a hot pink T-shirt, the official Dora backpack, Boots (the monkey Beanie), and the wig. It was a lot, but it has been the costume I have been most proud of!

Junior Year

Mr. Monopoly

I really really really wanted to wear a mustache that year, so I decided on a female version of Mr. Monopoly. Once again, I went on Amazon to get the top hat, monocole, and cane (not pictured). Although Mr. Monopoly technically never owned a monocole, I thought it definitely added to the character. I also went to a Halloween store and bought a mustache. Unfortunately, they didn't have a gray/white mustache, so I went for a beautiful black one and spray painted it white. I also threw in some Monopoly money into my pocket. I pulled out a gray skirt (he wears gray pants), a white tank top, and a black blazer from my closet! This one was definitely much more affordable than my Dora costume.

Senior Year

I do not have a picture of my costume yet, but it is ready! I am super excited for my costume this year!!! Can't wait to rock it on Friday :-) I also have another one prepared for next week on the actual day of Halloween, so we'll see how that one turns out!

10 Reasons Why Mindy Kaling and I Are the Same Person

Mindy Kaling's show "The Mindy Project" has had one successfully hilarious season with the second season premiering on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Luckily, because I am the only person I know who has a Hulu Plus account, I was able to watch the second season's premiere already. And when I say it was perfect, I mean it. Not only did Anders Holm come back to play Mindy's pastor boyfriend Casey, but James Franco plays a new doctor. That's all I'm going to tell you. You'll just have to wait until next Tuesday...suckerz.

I'm going to be honest here--I've had a Mindy withdrawal since the first season ended. Therefore, I posted Lauren Conrad as my "women crush Wednesday" last week, but we all know my one and only love is THE Mindy Kaling.

The reason I love her so much probably has to do a lot with the fact that I believe we are the same person. So yeah, I love myself. But if there was one woman I loved more than myself, it's her. I wasn't sure how similar we were until I read her book, "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)." But that's a whole different story (literally).

Here are 10 reasons why I believe Mindy Kaling and I are the same person:

1. We both appreciate how many friends we have, and could never pick one person to be our "best friend" (however, I would choose Mindy to be mine).

2. Obviously I want to be Mindy. But if I never knew who she was, I would aspire to be...well, myself.

3. We both love our bodies and completely accept that we will never be "skinny."

4. We're always surrounded by "white girl problems" and sometimes we just can't deal.

5. We know what we want and what we deserve.

6. We can't understand why people would think so little of us.

7. We would never settle. Therefore, we say things like this...

8. We are incredibly rational human beings and dramatic only when necessary.

9. We find humor in stereotypes.

10. We know our potential.

I could list many more reasons as to why Mindy Kaling and I are the same person, but who has that kind of time? I probably do, but I rather not. Hope you all got to know Mindy me a little better.

PEACE.

Two Dos for Fall Fashion

With the first week of September coming to an end, many of us have witnessed a transition from summer clothing to fall clothing. It's only right that everybody is putting away their sandals and pulling out their booties. This fall, there are so many fashion trends to follow, but I believe there are two that stand out the most. The two dos I have for fall fashion are faux leather and military-inspired jewelry and clothing.

Faux Leather
We've been seeing faux leather everywhere for quite a few seasons now. But this fall, it is all about building that leather with other materials, and choosing to use leather as detail rather than focus. You can choose a variety of colors when it comes to leather, but classic black is always a great choice. Here are a few affordable pieces that truly follow this trend:
Forever 21 Faux Leather Trim Chiffon Shirt $19.80

Charlotte Russe PU Trim Ponte Skater Skirt $16.99

H&M Sleeveless Dress $34.95

I have to throw in one pricey item because it is that wonderful.
Nordstrom 'Elyssa' Leather Peplum Minidress $258.00

Military-Inspired Jewelry and Clothing
Where do I even begin? The military-inspired look is all about wearing different shades of olive green in a unique and edgy way. It also consists of extravagant gold buttons and skinnies. When you first hear military, you might think camouflage. But this fashion statement isn't limited to your typical military look. It's a feminine twist on the entire idea, and that's what makes it so exciting. I am absolutely obsessed with this trend, especially when it's worn with the faux leather. Here are some more affordable pieces that really stand out:
Forever 21 Military-Inspired Spiked Denim Jacket $47.50

H&M Coat with Quilted Sleeves $59.95

Forever 21 Street-Chic Oversized ID Necklace $7.80

Once again, I have to toss in a pricier item because it is also that wonderful. And beautiful. And perfect.
Henri Bendel Bond St. Fringed Collar $228.00

One final thing: have fun with your style. Don't forget to mix and match the many trends going on. There are absolutely no limits when it comes to fashion. Do not feel as if you are stepping out of your boundaries by trying an edgier or more chic look; you're supposed to try new things. Happy Fall Fashion!

My Feelings Through GIFs

I have a serious obsession with GIFs...

When I see guys posting pictures with a fish they caught

What I do when I'm surrounded by friends that are trying to eat "healthier"

When someone I like is dating someone that isn't me, I'll tell my best friends what she honestly looks like

How I react when my sister tells me that she wants to stay in, eat pizza and watch Netflix all night

What I think I'm doing when I see a very gorgeous man across the bar
What I am actually doing

How I used to react when I first saw a naked man
How I react now

What I imagine dating a misogynist would be like

How I feel when I park my car in a grocery store parking lot and eat my lunch

What I think I look like when I'm crying
What I really look like

31 Reasons Cory Monteith Will Be Missed

After learning about the recent passing of beloved "Glee" star Cory Monteith, I decided to start the series all over again. Re-watching the episodes and seeing Monteith portray his character Finn is so heartwarming and sad at the same time. He was a young and talented performer, and he will be missed by the countless Gleeks out there.

It was announced on Tuesday, July 16, that Monteith's death was due to an overdose of heroin and alcohol. He was found dead on Saturday, July 13, in his hotel room after missing his check-out time. Monteith had been struggling with addiction since his early teen years. He had recently checked out of rehab after 30 days.

Unfortunately, he did not win his battle with addiction, but he won the hearts of many.
Cory Monteith died at only 31 years old. There are so many reasons why the young actor will be missed, but here are 31 reasons why I admired him:

1. He was an awesome air dummer.

2. You can't help but laugh when he tried to be sexy (only because he's more adorable than anything).

3. He played a great flustered Finn when he accidentally hit the mail man.

4. He was as intimidating as a teddy bear.

5. He let us feel less alone.

6. He was always there for his on and off-screen girlfriend.

7. He couldn't dance, but we loved him for it.

8. He wasn't afraid to admit to the world that he was in a happy and committed relationship with his co-star.

9. He didn't know that he was the beautiful one.

10. He looked adorable doing pretty much anything.

11. He even looked good taking a slushie to the face.

12. He stole our hearts when he became selfless enough to let the love of his life leave him to follow her dreams.

13. He knew how to throw a mean punch in order to protect Rachel Berry.

14. He knew how to play a character who wasn't the smartest jock around.

15. He loved his fans.

16. He reminded us of our love for Journey in the pilot episode.

17. He knew how to receive kisses.

18. He could play the real drums.

19. He had the courage to try out for cheerleading.

20. He was the cutest giggler.

21. He stole our hearts with a boy band mash-up.

22. He helped make his fans believe that it's more than okay to be a Gleek.

23. He was just a goofball.

24. He really couldn't dance, but he embraced it.

25. He reminded us that chivalry does exist.

26. He knew what to do to get us ladies swooning over him.

27. He knew how to rock a pair of glasses.

28. He had a big heart.

29. Did I mention that he looked adorable doing anything?

30. He was hilarious and precious at the same time (Warning: this video may be hard to watch).

31. And finally, his happy smile made all of us smile.

Rest in Peace, Cory.
